Sorry to hear about your mother, Eowyn. I'll add her to my prayers tonight.

Thanks so much, BCF and Charles Henry.

She actually was a great deal better than I feared, and I'm hopeful she'll get better. Though she's not my "real" mom, she may as well be, and I love her very dearly.

Thanks again for good wishes -- ((hugs))

I'm glad your Mom's better.

I envy the dolphin 'Stormy' in the picture! (grins)

Were you enthralled by Eowyn (in many ways a tragic -- hamartic, even -- figure) before seeing Miranda Otto in the part in LotR 2 and 3? You don't seem like that sort of person at all.

You love the scenery in Western Canada -- I lived there in '76 and still feel like an exile sometimes.

I would like to correspond with you. Send me an email address and I'll send you some biographical stuff.

Warmest Regards,

Tony Hollick

Sure thing!

As for Otto's performance in LOTR, I was disappointed. Too warm and fuzzy. Mind you, I'm kind of warm and fuzzy myself, so it's a bit of a pot-calling-kettle-black situation :) However, I admired the original Eowyn for her clear-eyed adherence to principles of honor, and, of course, was thrilled for her when Faramir broke through her self-defensive coldness and misplaced idealism.

As an unrecovered idealist and as someone who believes in honor, I relate to her -- otherwise, we really aren't much alike. But Eowyn will always be a hero, to me.

Oh, and by the way, Tony -- you couldn't have chosen a nobler weapon for a handle :)
