'I'm ignored. My skin is brown."

How about, "I'm ignored because U.S. law trumps Canadian law in my particular case??"

Eowyn, I agree it's about the Canadian government rightly deferring to US law. But still, there's the political posturing that goes along with that to consider. And here Elmasry has it wrong: it's not because of his Omar's skin tone that Harper and many of us show little sympathy; it's because the Khadr family are Islamic supremacists and brainwashed their son to go to Afghanistan to kill. I wonder if Elmasry can grasp that many Canadians simply hate Islamofascists and race has nothing to do with it. Can he accept that many people study his religion and just say no way, or time for these guys to give up the political ambitions and enter liberal modernity, radically modernizing their religion along the way?

Indeed, truepeers. I think, though (or at least hope) that by keeping the spotlight on these thugs, there'll be less opportunities for them to plot/commit mayhem. I think it's perfectly clear both in Canada and here that it's not acceptable, to say the least. Or it should be clear.
