A bittersweet day

Via Walker Across Worlds:

Pink Floyd founding member Richard Wright has passed on.

Always and forever will I be grateful these guys existed, got together, and created the most amazing music for all of us to enjoy forever.

Rest in peace, Richard. And thanks so much.

Thanks for the link.

It's sad that I'll never have a chance to see like a reunion tour, or anything like that.

All I'll have to remember Pink Floyd by will be their albums.

Although really, I wonder if that's the best way to remember a band?

Interesting point, Walk-Man.

I fell in love with them the first time I heard them -- in the high school auditorium over the PA system, cranked to the nines. WOW.

Then I saw them in concert, and was disappointed. Granted, the sound quality in those days was pretty bad, a lot of times. But somehow, since you mention it, I will always remember the way they SOUNDED, especially on good-quality equipment.

Oh, well ... we dealt with the Beatles dropping away, so I guess we can deal with this loss, too.

Does seem a shame, though.

Walk-Man ...

We might be witnessing a kind of end of all things here.

I know!

And what with George Carlin, Isaac Hayes, and Bernie Mac, they're dropping like flies.

I certainly hope the next generation is able to take their place.

I'm deeply skeptical, based on what I've seen so far -- but who knows? The '60s were a kind of renaissance, so perhaps we'll get that again.
